VidyaOS — the operating system for Indian schools

Admissions to alumni, fees to fleet, classroom to report card — one platform that speaks CBSE, ICSE and every State board, works in Hindi, English and regional languages, survives Tier-2 internet, and keeps students, teachers and parents on the same page. Literally.

VidyaOS smart school management system
The Problem

Indian schools run on registers, WhatsApp groups and one overworked clerk

Fee leakage & follow-up fatigue

Dues tracked in registers, receipts written twice, defaulter lists made by memory — and awkward phone calls that damage parent relationships.

Teachers doing clerk work

Attendance registers, mark-sheet totalling, report-card handwriting, diary notes — hours every week that never reach a child.

Parents in the dark

Circulars lost in bags, marks discovered at PTMs, bus timing guesswork — engaged parents are a school's best marketing, and they get the least information.

Built For All Of India

One platform, four zones, every board

School software fails when it assumes every school looks like a Delhi CBSE school. VidyaOS is configured, not customised, for how schools actually differ across India.

North — CBSE/ICSE heartland & State boards

UP Board (with its distinct exam pattern and Hindi-medium majority), CBSE and ICSE side by side; Hindi + English interfaces; large class sizes (60+ sections supported); RTE quota tracking; winter/summer timing switches; Urdu-medium support.

South — State-board depth & language-first parents

Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana/AP board structures with their own grading; Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu parent-app languages; matriculation patterns; strong micro-attendance and academic-analytics expectations set by high digital adoption.

East — affordability & bandwidth reality

WB, Bihar, Odisha, Assam boards; Bengali, Odia and Assamese interfaces; offline-tolerant attendance and marks entry that syncs when the network returns; SMS fallback where smartphones are shared in the family; low per-student pricing tiers.

West — multi-brand & compliance-heavy

Maharashtra and Gujarat boards plus dense CBSE/IB/Cambridge pockets; Marathi and Gujarati support; multi-branch trusts with consolidated dashboards; stronger audit/committee reporting; fee-regulation-committee ready fee documentation.

Boards & frameworks covered: CBSE, CISCE (ICSE/ISC), all State boards, NIOS — with NEP 2020 constructs built in: Holistic Progress Cards, competency-based assessment, FLN tracking for foundational years, credit-ready academic records aligned to the emerging national frameworks, and APAAR/UDISE+ field mapping for government reporting.

Who Feels The Difference

Students, teachers, parents — everyone gets their time back

Students

  • One app: timetable, homework, materials, results, bus ETA
  • Practice quizzes with instant feedback (global adaptive-learning practice)
  • Achievements & portfolio that follow them till TC — NEP credit-ready
  • Counselling & wellbeing flag route to a trusted teacher (safeguarding practice from UK/AUS schools)

Teachers

  • Attendance in 20 seconds, marks from a phone, report cards computed — not totalled
  • Lesson-plan vs syllabus tracker; substitution fairness visible
  • Parent messages through the app — personal numbers stay private
  • Class analytics: who is slipping, before the exam says so

Parents

  • App in Hindi, English + regional languages; SMS fallback for feature phones
  • Fees with UPI in two taps, receipts saved forever
  • Live bus tracking, absence alerts within minutes of roll call
  • Progress they can understand — trends and teacher remarks, not just totals
World-Class, Localised

Global edtech practice, Indian ground reality

  • Adaptive practice & mastery tracking (Khan-Academy-style) mapped to Indian chapter sequences
  • Safeguarding & consent: photo-consent flags per child, staff-communication audit trails, DPDP-compliant children's data handling with verifiable parental consent
  • Interoperability: CSV/API everywhere, UDISE+ field mapping, Tally export, LTI-style content embedding, no lock-in
  • Accessibility: dyslexia-friendly fonts option, screen-reader labels, low-vision themes
  • Analytics culture: early-warning indicators (attendance dips + score dips + fee stress) trialled in US/UK MIS systems, tuned for Indian class sizes

Built for Indian infrastructure

  • Offline-tolerant attendance/marks entry — syncs when network returns
  • Runs on ₹6k Android phones; web for office desks
  • Hindi + English + 8 regional languages (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia; more on request)
  • Hosted in India; school data exportable anytime; DPDP-aligned

FAQ

VidyaOS — questions from principals and trustees

We are a Hindi-medium UP Board school. Will this really fit us?
This is exactly the school VidyaOS was designed around — Hindi-first interfaces for staff and parents, UP Board exam schemas and grading, fee patterns common in UP private schools, and pricing that respects UP fee levels. Demos are done in Hindi if you prefer.
Our data is in registers and Excel. How does migration work?
We import from Excel templates (students, fees due, staff) and even photographed registers during onboarding — a typical 500-student school is live in 2–3 weeks with parallel running for one fee cycle. Your office staff are trained hands-on, in Hindi or English, and old records remain accessible as an archive.
What does it cost, honestly?
Indicatively from ₹20 per student per month on annual billing, varying with modules (transport GPS and biometric devices are hardware extras) — GST 18% applies. A 400-student school typically lands under what one clerk's salary costs per year, while saving far more than one clerk's workload. Written quotes only after we understand your module needs.
Do parents need to pay for the app?
No — the parent app is free for parents, in their language, on Android and web (iOS via web app; native iOS on the roadmap). Schools choose which modules parents see. SMS fallback covers feature-phone households at pass-through SMS cost.
Who owns the data if we leave?
You do — full exports (students, fees, academics, documents) in standard formats at any time, and a guided handover if you migrate away. Children's data is handled per DPDP with parental consent flows; we never monetise or share it. That is in writing in our service terms.
Can it handle our second branch and our trust reporting?
Yes — multi-branch is native: each branch runs independently (own fees, boards, timetables) while the trust sees consolidated dashboards, comparative analytics and combined audit reports, with role-based access so the right people see the right branch.
